Analytical
laboratories
Wet chemistry forms
the basis of greatly improved reference methods of analysis developed by
FOSS. Our radically improved Kjeldahl, Soxhlet, Weende and van Soest wet
chemistry reference methods perform dual roles and dramatically cut
laboratory time and costs. The methods can either be used in independent
laboratory systems to provide reliable results based on wet chemistry
analysis or, because of their accuracy and precision, they can be used
to create valid calibrations for NIR/NIT analysis systems.
We supply a full range of
Kjeltec™ Systems and Digestion Systems for protein and nitrogen determinations
and other parameters. Compared with traditional
Soxhlet methods, our automated Soxtec™ Systems are five times faster, safer and
more economical, due to heavily reduced solvent usage.
FOSS Fibertec™ Systems are
specifically designed to determine crude fibre, acid detergent fibre (ADF),
neutral detergent fibre (NDF)-, and lignin, according to relevant ISO, EC and
AOAC standards. Rapid, flow injection
analysis (FIA) with low reagent consumption is performed by our FIAstar™
Systems, for analysis of nutrients and other parameters in water and soil, as
well as in meat or other food products.
Sample Preparation is vital
Certain analytical techniques
demand good sample preparation as part of the total analysis procedure.
Dependable results are ensured by correct procedures. This is important for two
main reasons:
 |
To reduce
sampling errors by making sample constituents homogeneous
|
 |
To make
analytes accessible for NIR scanning or treatment by reagents, solvents,
enzymes, etc. by breaking down samples into small particles. This also
speeds up drying procedures. |
FOSS provides a wide range of
highly effective sample preparation mills and grinders - Cemotec™ mill, Cyclotec™
mill, Knifetec™ mill, Homogenizers, - that contribute to dependable results.

Digestion System
The Tecator™
Digestion systems are designed for simultaneous, manual or automatic,
batch digestion of 8 or 20 samples in 250ml or 100ml tubes. A 40 tube,
100ml version is also available. |

|
Kjeltec™ Systems
Kjeltec™ Systems
provide semi-automated to fully automated systems for Kjeldahl
protein/nitrogen analysis and other distillation chemistries. The
KjeltecTM series from FOSS is designed to attain excellent performance
in terms of accuracy, safety, value and user friendliness. Used in
combination with TecatorTM Digestion systems. |

 |
FIAstar™ 5000 Systems
The FIAstar™ Systems
are used for automatic wet chemical analysis of a wide range of analytes
(up to 180 analyses per hour) in water, wine, soil, meat and dairy
products as well as in other foodstuffs. Up to three parameters can be
analysed simultaneously. The standard dual-wavelength detector reduces
all base-line disturbances.
|

|
Soxtec™ Systems
The Soxtec™ Systems,
the fastest on the market, for multipurpose automated solvent extraction
of food, animal feed, grains, textiles, water, plastics, rubber and many
more without loss of accuracy. The entire extraction takes place in a
closed, secure system. A complementary Hydrolysis system enables Total
Fat determinations to be performed. |
|

|
Fibertec™ Systems
Fibertec™ Systems
enable semi-automated hydrolysis, extraction, digestion and separation
systems for optimal crude, detergent and dietary fibre determinations,
according to approved methods and standards in batches of six samples. A
modular system, FiberCapTM, based on filtration and sample transfer
procedures has low investment cost and is preferable to manual standard
methods. Analyse up to six batches of 6 or 18 samples, in parallel,
simultaneously giving 36 to 108 finished extractions in 90 to 120
minutes.
